"Gold Rush"

The St. Mary’s River is home to a unique and amazing fishery. This is one of very few places where you can target actively FEEDING Atlantic Salmon with a good chance of success. By “good chance”, I refer to my personal record day of 5 fish landed of 8 fish on. Success like that would rival an incredible WEEK of fishing on some of the best Atlantic Salmon rivers in the world. Capt. Brad Petzke, of Rivers North, knows the habits of these incredible gamesters and has fine-tuned some highly successful tactics. While many fish are caught stripping streamers, mine were taken on small, bead-head nymphs. Atlantics fight you with jarring head shakes, drag-screaming runs and cart-wheeling leaps, all while bringing you to your knees. This beauty was taken with a #14 BH Brassie which was eventually pulled straight by an even larger fish during it’s 20 minute escape.
