"Huron Heart-Stopper"
–Northern Pike–
During Memorial Day weekend of 2005 I was fishing a shallow, weedy bay off Point Brulee with my father and older brother. Action was slow and my retrieves were getting sloppy. This caused a missed opportunity at a Northern Pike we were soon to nick-name "Ol Blue". After several chances at the same aggressive fish by my father and brother, I was lucky enough to hook and land her. It's my biggest Northern Pike to date. Because of the circumstance in which this fish was caught, I felt it worthy of getting a graphite replica and was also compelled to honor the catch with this painting. Few fish are capable of generating the emotions that come with the visual strike of a large Northern. They will always have a special place in my angling heart.
