The "Rapids", as they're called, conjure up a deep fear to many who wade these waters as well as the many who won't. One need not watch for long to witness a stumble and a swim. Eventually it's your turn to "go with the flow". But nothing ventured... nothing gained is my motto and the rewards can be outstanding when it comes to steelhead fishing. Guide and friend, John Giuliani has nerves of steel, eyes of a hawk and an intimate knowledge of every rock and pebble in this stretch of river. It was with his coaching that I enjoyed sweet success steelheading there for a couple of days in late May. The "Rapids"certainly add an element of adventure to the sport, and fight you especially hard upon hooking up. I always did love a good chase scene.
